Credit where it’s due, I didn’t come up with this concept. It was sent to me on Instagram, and I was immediately felled by its power. Because it has been a long winter - an intense one, in my case - and I am not yet ready to be a woman again.
Fake tan? No. Shiny hair? Absolutely not. Pedicure? Would genuinely pity the nail technician at this stage. I don’t know if I’ve just reached a certain age, or if this is a universal, post-winter malaise, but I simply cannot bring myself to perform femininity in the usual way. I need a season of respite, of slowness, of moisturising with the bare minimum of effort.
Enter: Snail Girl Spring. The basic tenets:
Eat fruit and veg.
Stay moisturised.
Take things slow.
Spend time in nature.
No exfoliation-induced breakdowns. No guilt about skipping leg shaving. Just a gentle shift into something a bit more...lubricated. A bit more nourished.
So, as a committed disciple of this movement, I’m breaking each section down. Moisturisers, the best places to stay in the UK, the hottest new book release and the best foodie Substacks, all for you my little molluscs.
