For ages I considered supplements a waste of money despite all of them being far cheaper than Good Genes and with supposedly longer lasting effects. This is because I love shortcuts. I am the hare in the fable. I also don’t mind winning by cheating (as long as it’s not hurting anyone - conscious of sounding Elonesque without that caveat).

But something clicked when I started thinking of supplements through the lens of vanity. Suddenly, I was a lot more disciplined about sticking to them - far more than when I was taking them for brain health or immunity. Let’s face it, it’s the same with the gym. Of course I want to be healthy, but you know what really keeps me doing burpees? The fact that people can tell I go to the gym. Vanity may not be noble, but it’s surprisingly effective as a motivator.

This isn’t just about health, though everything listed below is good for you. It’s about glow. I promise they’re worth the effort.

Collagen

You need to ingest collagen for it to work, please ignore any topical skincare that contains it, it’s snake oil. Rejuvenated Collagen powder is made from sustainably sourced marine collagen peptides (stay with me) which are easier for the body to absorb compared to other types, so work quicker. Marine collagen is like sending a memo to your skin to act like it’s 23 again. I’ve been doing a month of daily shots now, my skin is plumper, fine lines have chilled out, and my hair is conker shiny.

Conscious this is a bit ‘I’m loving my Perfectil!’ Frankie Bridge…

…but rest asssured, as with everything on the Trowel, I am not being paid to say this.

If you’re vegan, might I suggest Ancient and Brave’s version.
