It’s the most wonderful time of The Trowel’s year! For those of you who are new to us - a good few! - every December we get together to open a luxury beauty advent calendar, reviewing every day’s product. At the end of the month, we’ll honestly decide whether it’s been worth it.
The difference with The Trowel is - WE BUY IT OURSELVES. This calendar has not been gifted, and as such we are under no obligation to like what’s inside or to sell the concept to any of you. Expect us to be delighted by the odd Augustinus Bader, sure, but also furious with aromatherapy rollerballs and getting migraines from heady perfumes the store clearly couldn’t flog. We are merciless, and picky, and quite right too. These calendars are creeping up to three hundred quid each!
This year we’ve opted for Space NK. For the past few years, Liberty’s calendar has been a bit same old. We thought we’d freshen things up, and having briefly glanced at the offerings from all of the major beauty retailers figured Space NK was making some big promises. We have since entirely forgotten what they were, so every day will feel like a surprise!
In short:
Every day in December we’ll be uploading both our written reviews & a mini podcast to our Substack page. You will not be bombarded with email content!
Paid subscribers will be able to access every day, free subscribers every other day
Once a week, we’ll email a roundup.
We would LOVE for you to join us. If you’ve a calendar of your own then please please feel free to comment and open along, we’re desperate to know what the other stores have come up with this year.
There will also be our regular non advent calendar content throughout December, so you get a lot of bang for your buck if you choose to upgrade your subscription in December.
Lots of love Trowelettes, and see you on the 1st!

Ok now it feels like Christmas!
My favourite festive content by a mile! I treated myself to the White Company one last year, which was lovely, but I’m still wading through the hand creams and shower gel, so vicarious thrills it is!
